LawyerLandFree Legal Aid

Free Legal Aid Programs, by State

Civil legal aid programmes funded by the Legal Services Corporation, the federal body that pays for free legal help in civil cases. Listed by state, in alphabetical order, with a link to each programme's official profile.

Informational only - this is not legal advice. This page lists organisations, not advice. LawyerLand is not affiliated with the Legal Services Corporation or with any programme named here, cannot refer you to one, and cannot tell you whether you qualify - each programme sets its own eligibility rules and service area. Reading this page creates no attorney-client relationship.

Source and coverage. Compiled from the Legal Services Corporation (LSC), Our Grantees index at https://www.lsc.gov/grants/our-grantees, retrieved 2026-08-13 (0 days ago). Every programme link was fetched and returned a working page when this list was compiled.

What this list does not cover. The Legal Services Corporation is the federal body that funds civil legal aid, and this is its own roster of the programmes it funds. It is not a complete list of free legal help: state-funded programmes, bar association projects, law school clinics and volunteer lawyer programmes exist that LSC does not fund, and none of those appear here. LSC-funded programmes handle civil matters only - not criminal defence - and each sets its own income limits and case types.
